Finished small bathroom with white large-format wall tile, a wall-hung grey vanity, a backlit mirror and a glass shower enclosure (a rendering of the finished look, not a job photo)

Bathroom remodel in Pompano Beach, FL.

Nearly half of Pompano Beach's homes sit in buildings of 20 units or more, and six in ten were built before 1980. I remodel those bathrooms at a written fixed price, about 22 minutes from my door.

Everything we do in Pompano BeachEverything we do in Broward CountyWhat it costs: Bathroom Remodel Cost Guide

The condo city, the oldest bathrooms

Pompano Beach is where the condos are: 46 percent of all housing units are in buildings of 20 or more, and 61 percent of everything was built before 1980, a third of it before 1970 (Census ACS 2024).

That's the beachfront and Intracoastal towers, the Palm Aire golf condos from 1967 to 1972, the Cypress Bend phases from the mid-70s to the late 80s, and the Leisureville 55-plus homes from 1968 to 1970. West of Dixie Highway and in Harbor Village, it's 1950s and 60s cottages and canal-front ranches. Either way, the bathroom is usually an original: a cast-iron tub, 4-by-4 tile, a 30-inch vanity and a drain line older than I am.

  • Older cottages: the plumber scopes the drain before we commit to a layout. In a 1950s house a failing cast-iron line changes the quote, and I'd rather know on day one.

Working in a tower on the Intracoastal

Beyond the city's sound-barrier and approval-letter rules, each building sets its own: a certificate of insurance naming the association, the service elevator reserved for the tile delivery, work hours that respect the neighbors, and a water shut-off that affects the whole riser and needs notice. Those go on the schedule before day one. The tile delivery alone takes planning in a tower, and I've done it enough times to make it boring.

Soft water, and a city stopped fluoride

Pompano Beach publishes its water hardness, which almost nobody does: 1 to 2 grains, from two plants that lime-soften and membrane-soften Biscayne Aquifer water.

That's among the softest water in Broward, and it's why frameless glass stays clear here with a squeegee. The city stopped adding fluoride in July 2025 under state law. For a remodel the practical point is simple: fixtures and glass age well in this water, so spending on a thermostatic valve or a frameless door is money well placed.

A third of the buildings in a flood zone

By the city's own count, over 32 percent of Pompano Beach buildings are in a Special Flood Hazard Area, and the city says the entire city can be considered flood-prone: canal, tidal, severe-weather and storm-surge flooding, with the coastal zone east of A1A at the greatest risk. The city holds a CRS class 6, worth 20 percent off flood insurance inside the hazard area, and runs an online portal where you can look up your zone and any elevation certificate on file. I'll flag it if you're planning in stages.

Help with the cost, for some households

The city's Office of Housing and Urban Improvement runs a Housing Rehabilitation Program of up to $80,000 for plumbing, electrical and code repairs to income-eligible owner-occupants, though it closed to new applications in August 2026, and an Emergency Repair grant of up to $15,000 for immediate dangers. Broward County's Barrier-Free track funds bathroom retrofits and doorway widening, and the county's Aging and Disability Resource Center lists a free short-term home-modification program for seniors covering grab bars and shower seats. If any of these might fit, I'll write the itemized quote the application needs.

Pompano questions

Something else on your mind? Call or text (954) 242-5924.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Pompano Beach?

A tiled tub-to-shower conversion runs $6,500 to $11,000, a full remodel $14,000 to $28,000, and a primary suite with a new layout $28,000 to $55,000 or more. Above the ground floor, the city's required sound-barrier assembly under new floor tile is an extra line, and it's on the quote.

Do you handle permits?

Yes, we can help with permits. Ask us about your job when we come to look.

Is my 1960s cottage in a flood zone?

More than a third of the city's buildings are, by the city's count, and the coastal zone east of A1A is at highest risk. Look it up on the city's flood portal or ask me.

Why is Pompano water easy on shower glass?

The city publishes a hardness of 1 to 2 grains, among the softest in Broward. Frameless glass and fixtures hold up well here with a squeegee.

How far are you from Harbor Village or Palm Aire?

About 22 minutes from my house in Plantation to the center of the city; Palm Aire is a little closer, the beach a little farther. The estimate visit is free.
