Almost every bathroom I remodel in South Florida lands in one of three buckets.
The numbers below are the ranges I quote, not a national calculator, and the quote you get from me is a fixed price with every line on it.
Tub-to-shower conversion, $6,500 to $11,000: the tub and surround out, a new mortar pan and waterproofing, tile walls, a glass enclosure, a new valve and trim, haul-away and clean-up. Seven to ten working days.
Full bathroom remodel, $14,000 to $28,000: studs-out demo, new tile floor and walls, a new vanity, mirror, lighting and exhaust fan, all new fixtures and supply lines, a glass shower door, paint and hardware. About two weeks on site.
Primary suite, $28,000 to $55,000 and up: layout changes, a curbless shower, custom tile, a double vanity with stone tops, premium fixtures, heated floor, niche lighting, frameless glass. Three to five weeks.
By the size of the room
People search for the price of a 5-by-8, a 5-by-10 or an 8-by-10 bathroom, so here's where each usually lands inside those ranges.
A 5-by-8 hall bath with the layout kept sits in the lower half of the full-remodel range; tile and vanity choices decide whether it stays near $14,000. A 5-by-10 adds floor and wall tile and sometimes a second sink, and lands mid-range. An 8-by-10 with a separate tub and shower uses the upper half, and the moment you move the toilet or the shower to a new wall you're in primary-suite territory whatever the square footage. Square feet matter less than what's being moved.
What moves the number
Four things decide the final price.
You'll see each on the quote.
Size and layout. A 5-by-8 hall bath is a different project than a 10-by-12 primary. Moving the toilet, shower or vanity to a new wall means re-routing drains, vents and supply lines, and that alone adds $2,500 to $6,000.
Materials. Big-box tile and a stock vanity keep a full remodel near $14,000. Porcelain plank, large-format slabs, quartz tops and designer fixtures push the same footprint toward $28,000 and past it. Bring your selections and I'll keep the labor honest either way.
Waterproofing done right. South Florida humidity is brutal on bathrooms. A sheet membrane, a properly sloped pan and cement board cost more up front than a quick mud job, and they're the reason your tile is still tight in year ten.
Keep the existing layout, reuse the vanity location, choose in-stock 12-by-24 porcelain tile and a stock vanity.
You can land a clean, fully waterproofed remodel near $14,000 without cutting corners on the parts that matter: the pan, the membrane and the plumbing. What I won't do to hit a number is skip the membrane or leave an old valve in a new wall.

Is $10,000 enough to remodel a bathroom in South Florida?
For a tub-to-shower conversion with real tile and glass, yes: that range is $6,500 to $11,000. For a full studs-out remodel, no; those start around $14,000 with in-stock tile and a stock vanity. Ten thousand buys a good shower or a refreshed bathroom, not a gutted one.
What is the biggest expense in a bathroom remodel?
Tile, installed, at $3,500 to $9,000 for floor and walls, because it carries the waterproofing and most of the labor. Plumbing is second, and it jumps the moment a drain moves.
Can I renovate my bathroom for $5,000?
You can refresh one: a new vanity and top, faucet, toilet, mirror, light, paint and fresh caulk on the existing lines. You can't replace a tub alcove or re-tile a shower properly for that, and anyone who says they can is skipping the pan or the membrane.
What is the correct order to remodel a bathroom?
Glass is last because it's measured after the tile.
How long does a bathroom remodel take in South Florida?
About two weeks on site for a full bath once we start. A tub-to-shower conversion takes 7 to 10 working days. The schedule is in writing before we start.
Does a new bathroom increase home value?
In my experience South Florida buyers consistently prefer a tiled walk-in shower in the primary bath and want one tub somewhere in the house. I'm a remodeler, not an appraiser, so I'll leave the percentage to them, but a bathroom that doesn't leak and doesn't look like 1985 is never the reason a house sits.
