What we do in Weston.

The conversion I build everywhere, in a house that is 25 to 40 years old and inside a gate.

Everything we do in WestonEverything we do in Broward CountyWhat it costs: Tub-to-Shower Conversion Cost in South Florida

Weston's first tubs are 40 years old

Weston's first homes were finished in 1984 in Windmill Ranch Estates and Country Isles, and half the city followed in the 1990s (Census ACS 2024).

So the oldest Weston tubs have passed 40 and the typical one is past 30: a fiberglass unit in the kids' bath or a garden tub in the primary, with a valve that has drifted and a surround that has yellowed. The conversion opens that wall for the first time since the builder closed it. Weston households are the largest in my service area at 3.16 people, so I usually convert the primary and leave the kids their tub.

  • Service lines installed after January 1989 were plumbed under the lead ban, and the city's inventory found no lead service lines anywhere; the licensed plumber still checks the house's own lines while the wall is open.
  • Garden-tub footprint: a large walk-in with a 15-inch bench and two niches in the same space, no wall moved.
  • Fiberglass unit: out in pieces, cement board and blocking on the studs, tile to the ceiling.

The gate, the HOA and one page from me

The city says most Weston residences sit inside a private development governed by an HOA, and every association registers with the City Clerk by the first workday in April; the 2026 list runs to about 119. Weston Hills, 2,133 homes between two golf courses, puts architectural modifications through its master association. Most published rules cover exteriors, but gate access for a work truck, where the debris goes and working hours are real, so for a conversion I hand the association one page: the scope, the dates, the crew's names and where the old tub is going. In Bonaventure, the condo associations are organized building by building, and the building's rules on elevators and hours go on the schedule too.

  • The old tub leaves the same day. No debris pile in a Weston driveway.
  • Savanna, The Falls, The Ridges, Emerald Estates and Isles at Weston are all on the city's list; bring your documents to the first visit.

Upstairs pans, soft water and zone AE

In a two-story Weston house the primary bath is often upstairs, so the pan is built on a wood subfloor rather than the slab: a mortar pre-slope to the drain, membrane up the walls, and a flood test held overnight before any tile, with the ceiling below protected. A moved drain upstairs means the plumber opens that ceiling, and the patch and paint is a line on the quote. The water comes from Sunrise's Sawgrass plant, Biscayne Aquifer wells 70 to 90 feet deep run through membrane softening and ion exchange, soft enough that frameless glass and matte fixtures last.

Weston conversion questions

Something else on your mind? Call or text (954) 242-5924.

What does a garden tub to shower conversion cost in Weston?

$6,500 to $11,000: the tub and its deck out, a large tiled walk-in with a bench and two niches in the same footprint, a new valve and glass.

Does my Weston HOA have to approve a tub conversion?

Most associations publish exterior rules only, but nearly all of them control the gate, the truck and the hours, and Weston Hills routes modifications through its master. I send a one-page scope with dates and crew names before we book, and I read your documents at the first visit.

The tub is upstairs. Does that change the price?

Not by much, unless the drain moves. The pan goes on the subfloor with the same pre-slope, membrane and flood test, and the ceiling below is protected the whole job. If the plumber relocates the drain, opening and patching that ceiling is a line on the quote.

Do you handle permits?

Yes, we can help with permits. Ask us about your job when we come to look.

What does Weston's water report say about lead?

That no lead service lines were found in the city's inventory, and that lines installed after January 1989 went in under the lead ban, which covers nearly the whole city. That describes the city's side of the meter; the licensed plumber still looks at your house's own lines and valves while the wall is open. The plumber still replaces the valve and checks the stubs while the wall is open.
