Finished bathroom with a tiled walk-in shower, warm travertine-look porcelain, a floating walnut vanity and a round black mirror (a rendering of the finished look, not a job photo)

Bathroom remodel in Coral Springs, FL.

Nearly a third of Coral Springs was built in the 1980s, in a planned city with strict code and family-sized homes. I remodel those bathrooms at a written fixed price, about 27 minutes from my door.

What we do in Coral Springs.

The same bathroom work, in a city where three quarters of the homes went up between 1970 and 1999.

A planned city of 1980s bathrooms

Coral Springs was one of Florida's first truly planned cities, laid out on a former bean farm with a strict code to keep it looking the way its founders wanted.

It added more than 35,000 people a decade through the 70s, 80s and 90s, and 73 percent of its housing dates from those three decades, with the single biggest cohort, almost a third, from the 1980s (Census ACS 2024). That makes the typical Coral Springs bathroom an original from 35 to 45 years ago: a one-story house with a hip roof, a fiberglass or tiled tub alcove, a cultured-marble vanity top and an exhaust fan that gave up during the Bush administration.

  • Family city: a quarter of residents are under 18 and households are the largest in my service area, so the bathroom I'm asked for most is a hall bath that two kids share, with a tub that stays and a second sink if the wall allows.
  • Single-family town: only about 11 percent of units are in buildings of 20 or more, so condo logistics are rare here. HOA subdivisions are the norm instead.
  • Eagle Trace, Heron Bay, Wyndham Lakes: guard-gated golf communities from the late 1980s to 2001 with master associations and sub-HOAs. Maplewood and Ramblewood are the 1970s and early-80s originals.
  • Several water utilities: the city's own lime-softening plant serves most addresses, with North Springs and Coral Springs Improvement Districts and Royal Waterworks serving others. Which one you're on depends on your street.

The one-day ads, and what I build

People in Coral Springs search for a one-day bath remodel more than anywhere else I work, and I know why: the franchise ads.

What they sell is an acrylic liner or composite surround fitted over the old alcove in a day or two, usually at a kitchen-table visit with financing. What I build is a real tiled shower on a waterproofed pan, in 7 to 10 working days, with a bench, a niche and any tile you like, at a fixed price from me. In a 1980s house whose tub alcove has never been opened, I'd rather see what's behind the wall than seal it in.

Hurricane zone, and the bathroom window

I plan it with the remodel rather than leaving the old window in a new bathroom.

Inside the house, nothing about the zone changes the tile work.

Flood zones, inland

Coral Springs is inland and participates in the CRS program; the city's Engineering Department at 954-345-2160 will tell you whether a property is in a Special Flood Hazard Area under the 2024 maps.

Help with the cost of a retrofit

This is unusual and worth saying plainly: the city's Owner-Occupied Home Repair Program offers eligible low- and moderate-income owner-occupants up to $65,000 as a deferred loan forgiven over fifteen years, and its barrier-free track names bathroom and kitchen retrofitting and mobility improvements specifically, for homes valued under about $679,000. Broward County runs a county-wide barrier-free track too. If that might be you, call the city at 954-344-1114 and I'll write the itemized quote the application needs.

“Brad is a great contractor to work with. He pays attention to every detail. He built my house's bathroom that I really like. After finishing work, he cleans up every time. My husband and I love this bathroom so much we designed it together. And it came out like we intended. Would recommend.👍”

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Coral Springs?

A tiled tub-to-shower conversion runs $6,500 to $11,000. A full remodel of a 1980s hall or primary bath is $14,000 to $28,000, and a primary suite with a new layout is $28,000 to $55,000 or more.

Is a one-day bath remodel a good idea in Coral Springs?

A one-day job is a liner over the old alcove. In a 1980s house that's never been opened, I'd rather see the wall, build a waterproofed tiled pan and give you a real shower in 7 to 10 working days at a fixed price. Buyers and the next plumber can tell the difference.

    Do you handle permits?

Yes, we can help with permits. Ask us about your job when we come to look.

Can the kids keep a tub?

Yes, and in a family hall bath I usually recommend it: a new tub, tiled walls to the ceiling, a glass panel instead of a curtain, and a second sink if the wall allows. Keep one tub in the house and convert the primary bath to a walk-in.

Should we replace the bathroom window too?

If it's an old jalousie or single-pane, yes, with the remodel. Doing it now means the tile is cut to the new frame.

How far are you from Coral Springs?

About 27 minutes from my house in Plantation to the center of the city, a little more to Heron Bay. The estimate visit is free.
