Why the prep is most of the job
A floor fails from underneath, not on top.
Most of the tile and flooring I'm asked to fix went down on a slab that was never flattened, never checked for moisture, or still had old thinset on it. So on every job the first day is prep: old floor out, slab ground or leveled, cracks treated, and the room measured for layout before a single piece is set.
- Old tile, carpet or vinyl out and hauled away the same day
- Slab flattened to what the tile or plank needs, not what the old floor got away with
- Moisture checked on the slab before vinyl or laminate goes down
- Cement board and waterproofing on any wall or pan that sees water
Where this work usually comes from
Bathrooms are most of my calendar, and tile is the heart of a bathroom.
Floors and backsplashes often come with a kitchen or a bathroom job, then the rest of the house follows: a hallway to match, a laundry room, the bedrooms in plank. One written quote covers all of it, and doing the rooms together is cheaper than three separate trips.

Do you install tile and flooring on their own, or only with a remodel?
On their own. A lot of tile and flooring jobs come along with a bathroom or kitchen, but a floor by itself is a normal job for us. Tell me the rooms and I'll quote it in writing.
Which flooring holds up best in South Florida?
Porcelain, on the floor or as plank. It doesn't care about humidity, slab moisture or a wet dog. Luxury vinyl plank is the softer, cheaper second choice and does fine on a slab that passes a moisture check. Laminate is the one I'm most careful with here; I'll say so on the visit.
Can I buy the tile or flooring myself?
Yes. Many clients do. I'll tell you how much to order, including the overage for cuts, and I'll check it the day it arrives before anything is opened.
Who does the plumbing if a floor goes under a toilet or a vanity?
My crew pulls and resets fixtures on their existing lines. Anything that moves a drain or a supply line is done by the licensed plumber I bring in, with me on site.
