Four things that decide your final price.
Size and layout
A 5×8 hall bath is a different project than a 10×12 master. Moving the toilet, shower or vanity to a new wall means re-routing drains, vents and supply lines — that alone can add $2,500–$6,000 to the job.
Material selections
Big-box tile and a stock vanity keep a full remodel near $14,000. Porcelain plank, large-format slabs, quartz tops and designer fixtures push the same footprint toward $28,000+. Bring your selections and I'll keep the labor honest either way.
Waterproofing & substrate
South Florida humidity is brutal on bathrooms. Schluter Kerdi or a comparable membrane, properly sloped pans and cement-board substrate cost more up front than a quick mud job — and they're the reason your tile is still tight in year ten.
Broward / Palm Beach permits
Anything that touches plumbing, electrical, or structural work generally needs a permit in Broward and Palm Beach County. Permit fees on a typical bathroom run $250–$650, plus inspection scheduling time. We pull it, meet the inspector, and pass first time.
Permits, inspections, and why they protect you.
In Broward and Palm Beach County, any bathroom remodel that re-routes plumbing, changes electrical, or alters framing requires a permit. Fees are typically $250–$650 and the project gets at least one rough-in and one final inspection.
R&R handles the application, the drawings, and meets the inspector on-site. The permit is what makes the work insurable, makes the home sellable later, and forces a second set of eyes on waterproofing and electrical safety. It's a small line item that saves a much bigger one.
Bathroom remodel cost questions
The pricing questions South Florida homeowners ask me every week.
- What does the average bathroom remodel cost in South Florida?
- Most full bathroom remodels in Broward and Palm Beach County run $14,000–$28,000 finished. A tub-to-shower conversion is typically $6,500–$11,000, and a true master suite with custom tile and layout changes runs $28,000–$55,000+.
- Do I need a permit to remodel my bathroom in Broward County?
- Almost always. Any work that touches plumbing, electrical or structural framing requires a permit in Broward and Palm Beach County. Cosmetic-only work (paint, fixture swap on the same valve, new mirror) usually does not. When a permit is required, R&R pulls it and handles inspections.
- How long does a bathroom remodel take in South Florida?
- A standard studs-out remodel runs about two weeks once we start. A tub-to-shower conversion finishes in 4–6 days. Larger master suites with layout changes typically take 3–5 weeks including permit and inspection time.
- What's the cheapest way to remodel a bathroom and still do it right?
- Keep the existing layout, reuse the vanity location, choose in-stock 12×24 porcelain tile, and pick a stock vanity. You can land a clean, fully waterproofed remodel near $14,000 without cutting corners on the parts that matter — the pan, the membrane, and the plumbing.
- Does R&R provide written estimates?
- Yes. Every R&R quote is free, in writing, and itemized line-by-line — labor, materials, permits, and timeline. Fixed price, no surprise change orders.
